AspiredSteps aims to disrupt a 322 billion dollar do-it-yourself industry starting with a Kickstarter campaign

Oakland, February 2015:  AspiredSteps, a bootstrap tech company based in Oakland, CA,  announced the official pre-launch of their crowdfunding campaign today on Kickstarter. With a goal of raising $10,000, AspiredSteps’ core mission is to change their users’ lives, one step at a time.

“There are so many people sharing great DIY ideas online and we couldn’t find any solution where users get paid for them,” says the cofounder of AspiredSteps, Zen Cachola.  Last year, the total DIY sales in the U.S. brought in over $322 billion.  “Our vision is to disrupt this market by empowering our users to earn through collective learning.”

A conventional behavior for a DIY enthusiast is to find an interesting idea online, purchase the tools from corporate giants like Home Depot or other brick & mortar supply stores, and then complete the project at home.  With A.S., a user is able to explore ideas, purchase the tools from small business owners, and collaborate with other DIYers straight from the app.

Geared to grow with the DIY Culture and the Maker Movement, A.S. is rallying over 135 million Makers in the U.S. to disrupt the DIY retail industry.  Through crowdfunding, A.S. next milestone is to reach 10,000 users in order to find the best seed investors, who care most about empowering our younger generations.

“Transforming the way people see DIY is more than just a project.  We want to raise   awareness that do(ing)-it-yourself is a powerful concept for self improvement.  Giving users our tool will strengthen our economic sustainability,” says Cachola.  A.S. is not only encouraging hobbies, they are building small businesses that have a global reach.

AspiredSteps is now working with over 500 Makers – who are small business owners – and have over 2000 products uploaded within their platform.  97% of their Makers are willing to share their profit with users.  They currently have a prototype being tested with selected users, where a user has successfully made $21,000 for a do-it-yourself project.

The money raised through their Kickstarter campaign will be used to improve their UI/UX design, iterate on functionality, and allow a seamless experience for anyone to sign up free on iOS and Android.
