What is a Liquid Facelift?

Dr Rick Rosen voted Connecticut top plastic surgeon.
A liquid facelift entails volumizing the face by placement of a filler product in the upper cheek region to lift the tissues back where they were before these changes occurred.

What is a liquid facelift or non-surgical facial rejuvenation?

As we age we lose tone and elasticity in the skin and the fullness of the fatty layer diminishes. This leads to sagging skin most evident by the development of the more prominent folds between the nose and the mouth, the neck, and the brow. I get asked frequently for non surgical options for rejuvenation of these areas.

liquid facelift entails volumizing the face by placement of a filler product in the upper cheek region to lift the tissues back where they were before these changes occurred. Radiesse and Voluma are the two most popular products for this. Injected comfortably in the office with little down time, years can appear to have been taken off. Both are all natural products, and last 1-2 years. Additional product may be placed into the folds as needed. They also stimulate the production of collagen by the body maintaining the correction.

To get an idea of the improvement place your thumb and forefinger over the cheek bone and gently lift towards the top of the ear. Do not pull too hard or far as this will lead to an unnatural look. Subtle correction without a done look is the goal and very obtainable. More product can always be added later as needed for first time patients who are concerned about too much of a change.

The hollow of the temple region is another location where volume is lost and refilling that hollow can elevate the brow back to its proper position and achieving a younger upper eyelid and more refreshed look.

Adjuncts to the above include the ZO products which increase collagen and elastin in the skin and improve tone in the skin over the volumized area. Peels, and non-ablative Lasers can also tighten the tissues for further improvement. I am not a strong believer in the RF devices and other tightening devices available on the market now, as they are not consistent in my opinion. They cost a significant amount of money and I would rather ensure results. 25 years ago all we had was surgery. Now, technology has taken us to to a different paradigm. We have choices.
